Pricing & Policies
Location: all of my portraits are photographed at a location that my clients choose, usually an outdoor location with some meaning to the family. Generally we try and choose a time frame when the lighting is good and children are well-rested so we can maximize our photo opportunities. I prefer to work without studio lights, but I come equipped to deal with any lighting situation we might encounter.
My prices assume we're shooting within a half-hour of Statesboro, GA. If more travel is required (if, for instance, you want a family portrait on the beach) then a larger fee applies.
Cancellation: if we're planning to photograph Johnny somewhere around his great grandfather's tractor and the weather on the chosen day doesn't cooperate, then we can reschedule without any problems. The same is true if Johnny is sick or he gets a black eye. Cancellations, on the other hand, must be made more than 72 hours prior to the session or you will forfeit the session fee.
Session Fee: the session fee has to be paid in advance. Sessions last an indeterminate amount of time -- if things are going well we can simply continue to shoot provided your schedule is flexible enough. As a general rule, family portraits can be completed within an hour, and children's sessions can be done within 90 minutes, though there are exceptions.
Reshoots: sometimes we don't get the results we want on the first try. If you are unhappy with the images I produced during your session you can request a refund or a reshoot. This is a one-time offer though; if we don't get the image you are looking for on the reshoot then a refund is no longer available.
Proofing: proofing is done online, but only after I have spoken with you to let you know the proofs are available. I do this because you have a limited time to ask for a refund or reshoot, and I want you to have enough time to properly evaluate the images.
Retouching: digital retouching is available at a minimal additional fee. Please ask for a quote if you're interested.
Print Prices: for the last decade I have been ordering all of my portrait and wedding prints from Miller's Lab, because they offered the best quality and service. Now they have a consumer branch called Mpix, and my current policy is to upload your images there and let you order whatever you like directly. The only reason I get involved is for special requests like very large prints, prints on canvas, retouching, etc. Quotes are available for custom work, but most prints are provided at quite reasonable prices directly from Mpix (for instance, an 8x10 is less than $3.)
